Deckhand.

What does a typical day involve?

Our work is so varied that there isn’t really a “typical day”.

What do you enjoy the most?

The variety, there is always something new to learn, and ofcourse going home.

What’s the least enjoyable aspect of your work?

Chipping and painting.

Do you get seasick? Any tips for not getting ill?

I usually get sick at the start of the first trip on a new ship or boat. The only guaranteed cure for seasickness is to sit under a tree.

What is your favourite memory from working on the ship?

Going to Hobart and going to Antarctica the first and second time.

What do you do when off shift, and in your spare time at home?

I enjoy reading and movies and at home I like gardening and playing badminton.
