What is your job?
Deck hand.
What does a typical day involve?
A 12 hour shift helping the scientists in their work in whatever field they are in as well as safety and maintenance of Tangaroa.
What do you enjoy the most?
Meeting and talking to crew and different people from all over and all sorts of fields.
What’s the least enjoyable aspect of your work?
Waiting because of bad weather or plans have changed – some things just take time.
Do you get seasick? Any tips for not getting ill?
Sometimes at the start of a trip but I get over it as the trip goes on.
What is your favourite memory from working on the ship?
Meeting the crew – I have some good mates that I have made on Tangaroa and have kept in touch with on my trips off.
What do you do when off shift, and in your spare time at home?
Hunting, fishing and relaxing.
