Aims of the KARMA voyage
The voyage has two aims:
[1] To decide whether New Zealand scientists can develop better methods for assessing the size and extent of the mineral resource on the Kermadec Arc;
[2] To improve our knowledge of the animals that live on the seafloor and hence understanding of the potential environmental impacts of any potential mining.
